Monrovia, Liberia โ€“ Hon. Samson Q. Wiah, representing the Opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Hon. Moima Briggs-Mensah, representing Independent Candidates, and Hon. Augustine B. Chiewolo, representing the ruling Unity Party, were elected by the House of Representatives Plenary to represent Liberia in the ECOWAS Parliament.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the election was heldย on the eleventh day of the first quarter of the second session. Since their colleagues showed faith in their leadership by voting for them on white ballots, each candidate won without opposition.

The House Press Bureau statedย that the decision comes after Liberiaโ€™s former ECOWAS Parliament delegates were recalled because of issues with the selection procedure and compliance with ECOWAS rules.

Hon. James Kolleh (Bong County, District #2) and Hon. Johnson Williams (River Gee County, District #3) brought up the matter during Thursday, February 13โ€™s House session, demanding that Liberiaโ€™s previous lawmakers in the regional legislature immediately leave office.

Article 18 of the ECOWAS Protocols, which requires political balance and female participation in the delegation, was followed throughout the election process.

Representative Hon. Samuel Enders of Montserrado County Electoral District #6 and Hon. Taa Wongbe of Nimba County Electoral District #9 were replaced by the newly elected members, but Hon. Briggs-Mensah stayed on.

The elected parliamentarians, meanwhile, have taken the oath of office.
As the representatives of the Republic of Liberia in the regional legislative body, the Speaker, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, thanked the lawmakers and wished them luck on behalf of Plenary.
