On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, a jury of twelve members of Criminal Court ‘A’ returned a guilty judgment against Regina Keppa, alias Asha Konneh, for trafficking six women to Oman under the guise of providing them with a better life. Judge Roosevelt Willie of Criminal Court ‘A’ set the sentencing hearing for Monday, April 25, 2022, after the jury returned a guilty judgment.

The hearing has been postponed pending the outcome of the probation officer’s background investigation, which is likely to be completed on Madam Kappa’s character this Friday. Madam Keppa, was indicted by Criminal Court ‘A’ in 2021 for allegedly trafficking six women to Oman under the guise of providing them with better jobs and income.

While in Oman under the supervision of Asha Konneh, the women complained of mistreatment and captivity. One of the victims testified that she was forced to wake up at 12 a.m. to work for her master until 7 p.m., with no time off.

She narrated that she was fed once a day and had to work the entire day.
” The people only fed me one time but made me work without even resting up to 7 pm, ” she said. Several individuals testified during the trial that they had comparable experiences in Oman. The convict earlier pleaded not to the case.

Meanwhile, Regina Keppa’s attorneys have expressed displeasure with the jury’s guilty judgment.
