LBS filed protest against PPCC following 3-1 defeat in Intra Government tournament

The 2022 Intra-Government Tournament officially kicked off on Wednesday across Montserrado with the football and kickball components. According to the Organizers of the Tournament, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, this year’s edition will feature four sporting disciplines including football, kickball, volleyball, and basketball.

In the kickball category at the SKD practice patch in Paynesville, Liberia Petroleum Refinery Corporation ( LPRC) defeated National Lottery Authority by 1-0 home in game one while General Auditing Commission when down 4-2 home runs at the hands of Liberia Land Authority in the second kickball match.

Public Procurement and Concession Commission went down to Liberia Broad Casting System in the final kickball match at that venue. In football, National Lottery Authority came from two goals down to settle to a 2-2 draw with LPRC in the first football match of the day. Underrated General Auditing Commission surprised Liberia Land Authority with a 1-0 defeat in the second football match.

Public Procurement and Concession Commission also secured a 3-1 win at the expense of Liberia Broad Casting System in the final football match of the day at the SKD Sports practice pitch, but the Liberia Broadcasting System has filed a protest against PPCC over what they termed as violation of rules governing the competition.

According to the Deputy LBS Director-General for Rural Broad Cast, Isaac Redd, PPCC featured four players who are not employed by the entity; something he said contravened the competition. Players who are featured for PPCC and are not employed by the entity are Somah Manneh,  Emmanuel Singbeh, Winston Collins, and Nelson Chea.

“As must as this tournament is meant for Unity among people who are in the employ of the government, I think we need to do the right thing at all times. Not to collect those boys from around Back pass to come and play. That is not what the tournament stands for, Mr. Redd explained to Journalists”.
