Former NPA boss calls for proper lawn tennis introduction in Liberia

Former Managing Director of the National Port Authority (NPA) Madam Maltida Parker was spotted playing Lawn Tennis at the Invincible Sports Park on Monday, May 23, 2022. She expressed delight about the game in Liberia, according to her, she has been searching for an area closer to her residence to practice Lawn tennis.

She extends special thanks and appreciation to Coach Alfred Kandarkai Technical Director of Liberia Tennis Federation and also an International certified tennis Coach from Valencia, Spain for bringing the sports bat to the invincible sports park.

Madam Parker said the Coach has the requisite qualifications, techniques, and experience in developing beginner tennis players. She lamented that when the game of tennis is developed in the country, tennis players will certainly represent Liberia in major tennis competitions abroad, like the Olympics.

According to Madam Parker, the game of tennis is not only for the youthful generation, but adults can also take advantage of the unique game. The former NPA boss noted that the game of tennis is also meant to exercise and stress-free the mind. 

She maintained that there is a need for the government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports to fully support the federation. The former NPA boss narrated that the game of tennis needs to be decentralized across the 15 counties in Liberia so as to gain more public interest.

Madam Parker mentioned that having more tennis courts for the game is the best solution to improving tennis across the 15 political subdivisions. She at the same time called on youths and young adults in Liberia to see tennis as a sport on the rise.
