FIFA Badge Referee Hassan Corneh was attacked on Wednesday by supporters believed to be of a 1st division club, Bea Mountain.
The situation occurred at the SKD practice pitch following the climax of a replay match involving Watanga FC and Bea Mountain in the 2022/2023 Orange 1st division league fixture.
The match was called off in the 26 minutes on Tuesday when it was still goalless due to a heavy downpour of rain, but the competition department at the Liberia Football Association requested for the remaining minutes to be played on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.
The match however ended 1-1 after the full time played, but what annoyed the supporters of Bea Mountain was the straight Red card to Titus Kamara in the first half by Central Referee Hassan Corneh coupled with several improper calls throughout the match with all going against them.
The Gold boys’ force League defending champions through a John Jaysay goal after collecting an assist from Sam Kollie to have at least a point to prove.
This result means both teams have secured four points each in two matches after winning their opening fixture last weekend. Watanga FC beat Jubilee FC 4-2 while Bea Mountain managed a 1-0 victory over Muscat FC.
As you can see from the action in this photo, fans of Bea Mountain are alleging that FIFA Badge Referee Corneh is involved in what they called match-fixing. Their actions called for quick police intervention to escape with the referee immediately for his safety.
Also on Wednesday, LISCR FC walloped Muscat FC 5-1 at the same venue. Christopher Jackson’s first-half hat-trick and goals from Ishmael Dumbuya and Afflah Allison in the second period ensured all three points for the Shipping boys.
They are now top of the league table with six points from two games after collecting another win on Sunday, September 4, 2022, against Cece United Football Academy, Isaac Dayweah scored a lone goal for Muscat FC.
