The 2022 National Chess Championship started in Monrovia with the assistance of partners and the Liberia Chess Federation (LCF). The 2022 edition of the Chess Festival, a national competition that began on November 29 with 12 teams, aims to encourage young Liberians, particularly female chess athletes, to play the game.
Each squad has four players, including one female and one player who is 20 years of age or younger, according to the federation. A 7-Round Rapid Chess Swiss tournament with a Time Control of 20 minutes plus 5 seconds increment for each participant is being used for the Championship.
The National Rapid Chess Championship and the National Blitz Chess Championship will be conducted on Sunday, December 4, as the chess festival continues. The opening ceremony for the National Classical Chess Championships will take place on Friday, December 9, and ends Sunday, December 18, 2022.
The African Confederation of Chess (ACC) and the International Chess Federation will both announce and uphold the championship’s results (FIDE). In the calendar year that follows the championships, the winners of the Open and Women Sections will be immediately qualified for all official places in ACC and FIDE events.
