MDR describes President Weah as a self-proclaimed pastor

The Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction has described President George Weah as a self-proclaimed pastor. The description of the Liberian leader is a direct response to his recent comments made against Senator Prince Johnson, political leader of the MDR and Senator of Nimba County.

President Weah, while delivering his Sunday, February 5, 2023, sermon at his church, termed Senator Johnson as a killer and blackmailer for claiming that the CDC government wants to assassinate him.

But in response to the President, the MDR said the comment is ungodly and the Liberian leader is not called by God. Addressing a news conference Monday, February 6, 2023, at the MDR headquarters in Congo Town, the party Vice Chair for Mobilization and Recruitment stressed that they are not surprised by the statement made by President Weah.

Mesco Worlo maintained that the MDR can no longer support the re-election bid of the Liberian leader in the October 10, 2023 elections. Mesco added that in 2017, Senator Prince Johnson genuinely supported the CDC through the MDR during the runoff elections.

He noted that at the time, the Liberian leader did not acknowledge that Senator Johnson was a killer and a blackmailer until now. According to him, the comments made by President Weah indicate his short memory span. He stressed that Senator Johnson was sanctioned by the United States due to his support to the Coalition for Democratic Change and President Weah.

At the same time, Mesco Worlo added that the MDR expects more threatening comments from the President to dismiss all government officials appointed from the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction.
