The Movement for Development and Reconstruction has called for the resignation of Jefferson Koijee as the Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation in the wake of an allegation linking him to the attack on the home of former Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott in Brewerville.
On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the former Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Liberia, Counselor Jerome Verdier linked the Mayor of Monrovia, Jefferson Koijee, to the attack on the home of the former Chief Justice, Counselor Gloria Musu Scott in which one person was killed and another severely injured.
Nelsco Wolo, the MDR’s National Vice Chairman for Mobilization, addressed the media in Congo Town over the weekend and pleaded with the foreign community to exert pressure on the CDC-led government to force Mr. Koijee to step down as mayor of Monrovia City. He claims that Mayor Koijee gave some Monrovia City Police officers firearms even though doing so is against the law in the nation. Wolo emphasized the necessity of pushing for an inquiry into the numerous murders and unsolved deaths that occurred in the nation under President George Weah.
The MDR National Vice Chairman made unequivocally clear that the gruesome murder of the nice Counselor Scott never came as a surprise and claimed that the party holds the Liberian government, especially the Liberia National Police responsible. On Thursday, February 23, 2023, the former Chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Counselor Jerome Verdier, during the Spoon Talk show, alleged that the attack on the home of Counselor Scott was orchestrated by Jefferson Koijee, who was also the National Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change. But, the Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation, Jefferson Koijee, during a press conference, denied the allegations terming it as an attempt by Counselor Verdier to tarnish his name.
