Farmington, Margibi Co. – Ahead of the 2023 presidential and legislative elections in Liberia, 26 recognized political parties in Liberia including President George Weah CDC have signed a declaration promising to hold peaceful and general elections on October 10, 2023. The 2023 Farmington River Declaration is the name of the proclamation.

President George Weah signed for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), former vice president Joseph N. Boakai signed for the Unity Party (UP), and Alexander Cummings signed for the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) at the Farmington River Declaration’s signing ceremony on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

The recently established Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party of Liberia did not sign and was present at the program, according to the National Election Commission (NEC). The NEC Political Affairs Section requested a promise from the Vision of Liberia Transformation Party (VOLT), but it was not returned. The party did not agree as a result according to NEC.
