Commerce Inspector General Resigns Ahead of 2023 Elections

Monrovia, Liberia- Montserrado County electoral District #10 Representative Hopeful Josephine Davies has officially resigned her post as Commerce Inspector General at the Ministry of Commerce & Industry In obedience to President George Weah mandate. The Liberian Chief Executive released executive Order #117 on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, requesting appointed government officials who have interest in elected public office to resign before April 7, 2023.

President Weah stated that one of the goals of the Code of Conduct is to separate public officials’ personal desire to run for office at the expense of public resources from their fiduciary obligation of trust, integrity, and loyalty owed to the people. According to the executive order, the Act mandates that all officials appointed by the President who wish to canvass or run for an elective public office within the Liberian government do so two (2) years prior to the election for the position they wish to run for.

Madam Davis thanked President George Weah and the Leadership of the Coalition for Democratic Change in a Facebook post for their confidence in her to perform the duties of Commerce Inspector General.
