Monrovia, Liberia – The 2023 biometric voter registration effort that was undertaken nationwide in anticipation of the October presidential and legislative elections, according to the National Elections Commission, successfully registered 2,498,904 eligible voters. 1,241,414 of the registrants were female, making up 49.6 percent of the total, and 1,257,490 were male, making up 50,32 percent, according to the chairperson, David Etta Brown-Lansanah.

At a news conference in Monrovia, Madam Lansanah said across the 15 counties, 27,192 registrants had been marked as possible double registrations. She claimed that 529 registrants had their records highlighted as possibly being underage, and the adjudication procedure is currently looking at these records.

12,399 people with impairments were registered to vote using biometrics, according to the NEC Chairperson. The commission has revealed that the tentative roll exhibition would start on June 12 and end on June 17, 2023.

“It is important that the public bring forward all concerns during the exhibition period. The exhibition is intended to give registrants the opportunity to re-affirm their registration details, request corrections where necessary, and object to inclusion of persons on the final registration roll.”

According to the electoral calendar, the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex will host the nomination of candidates for the October 10, 2023, elections, which is a crucial step in the electoral process, from June 14 through July 14, 2023.

Accordingly, NEC announced that nomination packets can be picked up at the SKD’s nomination center starting on June 12th, 2023, and continuing during the nomination period.
