Halo Depicts the warning of storms in Monrovia.

Monrovia, Liberia – Only six days had passed since the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) issued a strong warning to residents of Monrovia and its surroundings regarding heavy rains that were predicted to create floods in several regions of the country.

The EPA advised inhabitants of Monrovia and other nearby communities to immediately take precautionary measures to protect their lives and property during this dangerous weather event in a statement issued on July 26, 2023.

The EPA stated that protecting the environment and public health is its top priority. The organization warns that flooding is inevitable and that all Liberians must act properly and together to reduce risks.

In just a few days, Liberia has seen the appearance of a sun halo which according to scientists is an indication of a storm. The halos are from tiny ice crystals in Earth’s atmosphere.

The light is refracted and reflected to form this ice crystal. A big luminous ring seems to surround the moon due to the optical illusion known as the moon’s halo or lunar halo. The refraction of moonlight by ice crystals in the high atmosphere results in the formation of this distinctive and frequently stunning halo around the moon.
