Rep. Madison Gwion Reported Dead


Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County – Representative for Grand Gedeh District #1, Erol Madison Gwion, passed away, according to reports reaching Reports231, Media Network. Our sources stated that after battling illness in Accra, Ghana, Rep. Gwion passed away early on Tuesday morning, December 5, 2023.

The election of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pannue in the 2020 special senatorial election prompted a by-election, which resulted in the first election of the Tchien district representative.
In the most recent election, held on October 10, 2023, Representative Gwion was re-elected to serve his constituents for another six-year term until he passed away.

The House of Representatives Press Bureau Director refuted rumours circulating on social media earlier this month that the lawmaker had passed away but clarified that the lawmaker was suffering from illness.

Representative Gwion died four days before his official certification by the National Elections Commission, which is scheduled for December 8, 2023.

As a result of the passing of Representative Erol Madison Gwion, tensions have grown in Zwedru, where a vengeful mob sets fire to the city’s Traditional Council headquarters. Some of the late lawmaker’s followers are accusing his sister, Beatrice Gwion, of causing his death, according to reports from the county.

She is thought to be a member of Grand Gedeh County’s traditional council. The late lawmaker’s supporters said that, during his victory party after being re-elected as representative in the October 10 election, his sister showered him with powder, showing a sign of victory. Our reporter added that the late representative supporters informed him that since the victory incident, the late lawmaker took ill, leading to his death.

In a related development, the angry crowd also attacked the home of Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, accusing him of taking part in the death of the late stateman. The home of the Grand Gedeh senator was seriously damaged.
