Monrovia, Liberia – Twenty-seven nurses are expected to depart Liberia for Nursing Leadership and Management Training in India, scheduled from January 26 to February 8, 2025. The training will focus on ethical and compassionate patient care with the goal of improving nursing practices in Liberia, according to a press release dated January 21, 2025.

The training opportunity followed as a result of collaboration between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Indian Embassy, reflecting a shared commitment to improving healthcare standards in Liberia.

The nurses thanked the Liberian government, the Ministry of Health, and the Indian people for the opportunity in their parting words. They promised to do well academically and return with the skills necessary to contribute significantly to the health care sector.

Speaking as well, Health Minister Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto emphasized the solid and expanding cooperation between the two countries and thanked the Indian government for providing this opportunity for capacity-building.

She urged the nurses to take full use of this opportunity by learning new skills and using what they have learned to enhance healthcare service in Liberia.

In order to ensure that the knowledge acquired is disseminated across the healthcare system, the nurses will lead training sessions in their home counties and medical institutions once they return.

Another significant development in the two countries’ bilateral collaboration is the training program, which is entirely supported by the Indian government.
