-Vows Not to Break Ground Again for Gov’t’s agency or office But Dedicate

President George M. Weah said he will not break ground again for the construction of a government’s institution or office but will be prepared to attend the dedication because Liberian people want to see dedication and not groundbreaking.

President Weah made the assertion on Friday, March 4, 2022, during the dedication of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) newly constructed and Re-modeled Corporate Headquarters on the Bushrold Island.

The NaFAA’s Corporate Headquarters is equipped with modern technology which includes high speed fiber optic internet connectivity, an upscale video conference hall, national call center, electricity with an automated system and other services.

    President George Manneh Weah

“Groundbreaking is just a symbol of what you want to do but the reality is what you achieved and I love to achieve because I am an achiever. I want to go to all the ministries and agencies that promote our vision not to do groundbreaking but to dedicate because this satisfies our people,” President Weah admonishes government officials.

President Weah said he is optimistic that every government institution will have its own office or building, stating “my vision is for every minister or director of agency to have prestige.”

President Weah lauded the NaFAA’s team for the great work done and for believing in the Pro-Poor agenda, which means putting poverty reduction and socio-economic progress at the heart of his leadership, his government’s mandate, policy formulation and programs’ implementation.

President Weah said prior to the Director-General of NaFAA, Emma Metieh Glassco taking over the entity, she was informed that those working for the government should know that Liberia needs to be reconstructed and built, something Madam Metieh Glassco is doing.

“Most of you working in this government are witnessing this dedication today, and I know you witnessed the dedication of the Headquarters of National Port Authority and Liberia Petroleum Refinery Corporation,” President Weah stressed.

President Weah said though Madam Metieh Glassco is a young lady, it does not matter one’s age but diligence and commitment to work.

He said his administration’s vision is not to be against older people, but to work with the older people so everyone can make this work.

President Weah lauded partners for the continued assistance to his administration adding that without harmony, cooperation and dialogue Liberia will not go anywhere.

The Board Chair of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) and Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, Jeanine Cooper said she was impressed with the new NaFAA’s Corporate Headquarters.

Minister Cooper said Glassco’s desire to achieve remains very strong and she does not rest until she gets results.

The Director-General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority, Emma Metieh Glassco said a little over US$200,000 from NaFAA’s operational budget was used to reconstruct and re-model its Corporate Headquarters with approval from the Board.

Madam Emma Metieh Glassco said with the institution increasing interaction with the public, the leadership saw the need to reconstruct and re-model its corporate office.

Madam Metieh Glassco said the project is being funded by the Government of Liberia for the people of Liberia and not donor funds.

    Madam Emma Matieh Glassco

“We have been able to acquire land deeds for the land and we are grateful to Managing Director of the National Port Authority Bill Twehway. This place was owned by the NPA but this property is owned by NaFAA,” Madam Metieh Glassco said.
