For free fair and transparent elections, the Board of Commissioners at the National Elections Commission has completed a day-long Symposium in Voinjama City Lofa county.

The one-day symposium which was held on Monday, June 27, 2022, brought together Candidates from Independent and political parties, State holders, Traditional Leaders, physically challenged people, Commissioners, and Senior Staff, students, Youth amongst others.

The symposium according to the National Elections Commission Chairperson Madam, Davidetta Brown Lassana, is aimed at creating an enabling environment where citizens will have a better understanding as it relates to working together to ensure a smooth electoral process in the county.

The NEC, boss lamented that the training is geared toward the sustainability of peace and building trust in the electoral processes; the symposium was held at the pentecostal College Hall in Voinjama City Lofa county.

Meanwhile, the conduct of the  2022 Lofa County By-Election gets on the way Tuesday, June 28, 2022, across the county.

According to the National Elections Commission Chairperson Madam, Davidetta Brown Lassana, all is set for the Lofa county senatorial By-Election.

The NEC boss used the occasion to call on the 187,775 voters in the county to turn out to vote for the candidate of their choice. It can be recorded that the vacancy was created as the result of the Supreme Court of Liberia denying former Defense Minister Brownie J. Samukai; for allegedly misapplying officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) monies after going through legal procedures at the Supreme Court of Liberia, Mr. Samukai was found guilty and convicted and later denied from representing the people of Lofa county.

Brownie Samukai was the longest-serving Minister during the reign of former Liberian President Madam, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Minister Samukai officially took office from January 2006  – January 22, 2018.

The election in Lofa county is currently ongoing in the peaceful ways as of now with no complaints, the government of Liberia has made sure there is high presence of security in the area to safe guard the process.
