President George Weah shares his happiness at the detoxification and rehabilitation programs his government started for At-Risk Youths. President Weah praised the at-risk youth for achieving some fundamental skills in their livelihoods and ordered 35 at-risk youth to participate in various training programs launched by the Coalition for Democratic Change Government. The Liberian Leader attended the graduation ceremony of the first 35 young Liberians on January 11, 2023, in Boy’s Town, Lower Margibi County.
President Weah thanked the graduates for availing themselves for change and wished them a fresh start and fruitful life. The Liberian Leader expressed joy in the ceremony marking the first transition of some at-risk youths from the Detoxification and Rehabilitation Center, which was just recently inaugurated by his government.
The Liberian President used the occasion to caution other young people in the country who are at risk of using drugs to use vocational and technical training facilities available all around the nation instead. He noted that his government will continue to support the ministry of Youth and Sports in its efforts to eradicate drug addiction from the nation. The National Funds Drive for At-Risk Youth Rehabilitation across the nation was initiated by the CDC administration in June 2022 with the goal of taking At-Risk Youths off the streets.
On that occasion, the steering committee for the At-Risk youths revealed that the government of Liberia raised the amount of 28,500 United States Dollars for the At-Risk youths program.
The Liberian Leader noted that the rehabilitation process is essential as such, there is a need for citizens to unite and combat issues of At-Risk Youths in the country.
