Monrovia- A Campus based political party at the state-run University of Liberia Progressive Students Alliance has threaten unspecified actions against the National Legislature said, failure on the part of members of that body to pass the National Equity Acts will lead the Institution with no alternative.

William B. Sando, the leader of the campus-based political party, stated during a news conference on Thursday, January 19, 2023, in Monrovia that his institution has notified senators to speed up the enactment of the National Equity Acts into Law.

The measures, if passed, will help students who are unable to pay their tuition and fees. We are closely watching their progress; “if anything goes wrong, the Progressive Students Alliance will have no choice but to take a bold approach, according to PROSA Chairman.” He stated that PROSA believes in respecting the law, and that since the beginning of their struggle, they have shown the greatest amount of restraint.

Chairman Sando mention that the senators should not see their tolerance as a sign of weakness to take the Institution for granted. He claimed that PROSA is fully capacitated enough with support from students to shut down activities at the Senate until the bill is passed into law.

Chairman Sando lamented, “We want to give the senators the benefit of the doubt while we requested all the students and others who are supporting the attempt to remain unbeaten and in great spirits as we expect to receive favorable news from the Legislature.”

The political pressure group also urged the administration of the University of Liberia and the government of Liberia to provide sufficient buses for the university’s students for transportation needs, as this has been a significant challenge for students at the institution over the years. In order to prevent protests at the institution, PROSA cautioned the University’s authority to act quickly and ensure that transportation problems are minimized this semester.

PROSA is requesting the administration to provide the results of the second admission exam, which was given and overseen by the UL administration, immediately. PROSA is concerned that the University is causing an unnecessarily long delay in the announcement of the entrance exam results. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he warned the public that the Administration is trying to rig the results in order to prevent thousands of students from enrolling at the university, which he called alarming.
