Monrovia – The attack on the house of former Chief Justice Counselor Gloria Musu Scott, which resulted in the death of her daughter and the injury of another, saddens the Liberia Council of Churches. The Liberia National Police should launch a timely and immediate investigation into the incident, particularly in light of the loss of life, according to LCC President Reverend Doctor Samuel Reeves, who described the attack as frightening.

Rev. Reeves spoke in a press conference organized by the Liberia Council of Churches in Monrovia during the weekend. The Liberia Council of Churches added that the attacks on the home of the former Chief Justice should not be taken for granted due to the manner and forms they occurred within a period of two weeks. The council wants the national security to increase its security patrol across the country to avert these unwholesome and deadly developments especially when the country is preparing for elections in October 2023, only eight months away.

The LCC insisted that it considers the assault to be well-planned and that, as a result, a prompt investigation is required to apprehend the unidentified perpetrators. The former Chief Justice Counselor Musu Scott’s home was attacked, which resulted in the death of one of her daughters. The attack was vehemently denounced by the council. The president of the Liberia Council of Churches has since offered condolences to the family of the late former Chief Justice Scott and reassured them that the LCC will support them during this difficult period. Following an armed men’s attack at the residence of the former chief justice of Liberia, Gloria Musu Scott, on Wednesday night, at least one person was killed and another was critically injured.

The incident occurred between 9 to 10 PM on Wednesday, in the Sheriff Gas Station Community in the Township of Virginia, district 17, Montserrado County. The deceased identified as Charloe Musu was a graduating student of Starz University in Monrovia, and the niece of Counselor Scott, while the other victim was only identified as one “AC”, 17. Information gathered that Madam Scott reportedly used pepper spray to escape after one of the attackers attempted to stab her to death. She, however, escaped unharmed and migrated to another residence in Monrovia.
