Monrovia, Liberia – The Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Staff of the Liberian Armed Forces paid a visit to the injured police officers at the JFK and ELWA hospitals today, February 27, 2005, as an act of support and solidarity.

This visit followed a meeting at the Ministry of Justice concerning the unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday. The Chief of Staff and the Inspector General extended their gratitude for the prompt reaction of medical personnel during the visit and communicated their sincere worries for the welfare of the injured police officers.

According to the physicians at both hospitals, the wounded officers are presently getting the care they need and are reacting well to it.

The Liberia National Police and the Armed Forces of Liberia are committed to cooperating to maintain peace and security in our country. The Liberian Armed Forces’ High Command is dedicated to upholding due process and takes this issue seriously, a  statement from the army noted.

“As we collaborate to find a fair and reasonable solution to this issue, transparency and fairness will serve as our guiding principles.”
