As MOD Visits Two Counties
Monrovia, Liberia – A delegation led by Col. Theophilus Dana, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, including members of the High Command of the Armed Forces of Liberia as well as senior personnel from the Ministry of National Defense, visited military installations in Margibi and Nimba Counties, respectively.
Col. Dana, the delegation’s head, told the two counties’ officials during the team’s recent visit to Camp Grant in Sanniquellie and Camp Jones in Kakata that the team was there to evaluate the barracks’ state in preparation for potential renovations.
In order to foster an environment that will allow the Armed Forces of Liberia to build additional housing facilities for the men and women in the AFL, he informed the authorities of both counties that the organization is getting ready to legally reclaim all of its properties across the nation.
He believes that the refurbishment of every military barrack that was built prior to the conflict is a prerequisite for solving the accommodation issue that the AFL is presently facing.
Col. Dana declared that as funding from the federal government becomes available, the AFL will repair every one of its facilities.
In addition to raising army morale, he said that housing suitable for men and women serving in the AFL will also improve national security.
In order to enable the army to start rehabilitation work as soon as funding becomes available, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia urged the administrations of the two counties to collaborate with the public and make sure that persons residing on the military premises depart.
Margibi County Superintendent Atty. Victoria Duncan, for her part, said that the AFL’s presence will significantly enhance the county’s security and inspire optimism in both investors and residents, voicing her support for the repair of the military installations within her jurisdiction.
The team was also acknowledged by Madam Duncan, who gave the delegation a tour of the military installations while escorting the Deputy Chief of Staff. She gave them her administration’s utmost assistance when Camp Jones renovations get underway in Kakata, Margibi County.
During his speech, Honorable Daniel Zepkpeh, the County Administrator of Nimba County, conveyed his sincere appreciation to the visiting delegation for their endeavor to restore the military facilities inside the County.
Since the AFL is crucial to the county’s investment portfolio, he claims that its existence will significantly increase the county’s security.
