Monrovia, Liberia – Albert Korvah, a Liberian international, has allegedly ended his contract with River United, a Nigerian club, due to purported noncompliance. Albert Korvah was signed by Rivers United, the winners of the Nigeria Professional Football League, in September 2022 for a three-year contract, from Watanga FC, then LFA 1st division champions.

His outstanding performance in the 2022–2023 CAF Champions League preliminary qualifier between Watanga FC, the Liberian champions, and Rivers Union of Nigeria led to his transfer to Rivers Union. Rivers Union easily advanced with a 3-1 total; they lost the rematch 1-0 at the SKD but won the first leg 3-0 at home. He was instantly transferred to Rivers Union after the match, however it is unclear how much was paid for the player.

“It saddened my heart to announce that I have terminated my contract with the Rivers United Football Club with immediate effect based on the sporting just caused, and the team’s failure to live up to their obligations. I want to thank the Rivers family for the time, and opportunity given me over those years spent together. I will forever cherish those moments. I wish the team the best of luck in future endeavors.”

He was crowned the best foreign player in the Nigerian league last season. Albert is a very fast right winger possesses accurate passes, physically strong, good at dribbling and hacking, a player with good mechanisms. He can also play in strong leagues, creates trouble for defenders with speed and techniques, difficult to monitor and can register at any moment. Albert was also a member of Coach Ansumana Keita squad that lost 3-0 against in Rabat, Morocco in November of 2023 during the final AFCON qualifier match in Group-A.
