Monrovia, Liberia – The Amputees National Soccer team of Liberia is requesting financial assistance from Chief Patron of Sports George Weah so they can travel to Ghana to compete in their first Paralympic games. The competition will take place between September 3 and September 12, 2023, according to the organizers.

They took this step-in response to persistent rumors that the Ministry of Youth and Sports couldn’t afford to pay for their trip.

President of the Liberia Amputees Football and Sports Association, Cooper George, made a fervent appeal on behalf of the team on Wednesday, 9 August. He noted that President Weah has consistently supported them in the past and that he thinks the Chief Executive is able to pay attention to their plight once more.

He stated that a budget of seventy-one thousand United States Dollars ($71,000) had been established as being sufficient for the trip to house 29 participants.

“As Triple Champions of Africa in Amputees Football, we don’t want to miss this Paralympics competition in Ghana which is our first. We are appealing to you once more to help sponsor our trip.”
