Alternative National Congress Political Leader Alexander Cummings and two others have pleaded not guilty to allegations levied against them by the All Liberian Party’s Chairman Theodore Momo.

In accordance with legal proceedings, the Writ of charges was read to defendants Cummings, Aloysius Toe, Secretary-General, and Daniel Naatehn, Chairman of the ANC, but they all announced a not guilty response in open Court on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Further to the Proceedings, Magisterial Court Judge Jomah Jallah mandated Government Lawyers headed by Solicitor General Syrenius Cephus to provide all pieces of evidence and names of Witnesses to the defending party in a statutory time frame of not more than five days, beginning the day of the commencement of the trial.

The Judge at the same time denied requests made by government lawyers to have the trial televised, based on Rule 11 of the Judicial Cannons, which among other things prohibits televised, digital recording, and photo-taking in Court during trial.

Meanwhile, one of the Lawyers representing ANC Cummings, Abrahim Sillah expressed delight with the Judge’s ruling.

Counselor Abrahim Sillah also promised to provide several documents in court, as he maintains his client’s innocence.
