Monrovia, Liberia – On Saturday, 5 year old Ansu Siryon of Total Football Academy dominated the SKD practice field as his efforts led to a 2-1 victory. In the current LFA Grassroots Festival Tournament, the young player was chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the U-8 category match between GSA Road Young Star and Total Football Academy of Lone Star Interim Coach Thomas Kojo at the SKD Practice Pitch.
His goal is regarded as one of the competition’s most remarkable and sought-after goals. After his solo effort, when he put the ball in the top left angle of the goal post, the entire stadium erupted in celebration as the game ended 2-1 in their favor.
His soccer performance is currently the most talked-about, establishing it as one of the strongest arguments for Liberian football stakeholders to start rebuilding from the ground up.
Meanwhile, a number of demands have been made by football stakeholders, sports journalists, and sports experts for Liberians to start rebuilding at the local level.
Many of them believe that the present generation of players has failed the nation, and they should use this as justification to focus their efforts at the grassroots level in order to preserve the nation’s reputation and prevent more subpar results in international tournaments.
It can be recalled, after losing a place in the 2025 African Nations Cup poised to take place in Morocco, Liberia has again bid farewell to the 2025 African Nations Championship squarely for locally based players.
It comes following Senegal’s 4-1 aggregate loss in the second qualifying round.
More worries are being expressed about the national team’s persistently subpar play after the first leg finished 1-1 in Liberia on December 22. However, the pride and joy of the Liberian nation lost 3-0 over the weekend in Darkar, Senegal in the second leg.
