Boakai Launches School Support Drive in Bong, Donates Shoes and Clothing

GBARNGA, Bong County – In an effort to encourage education and lessen the financial strain on struggling families, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has started distributing shoes and clothing to schools and needy groups throughout Bong County. Students, teachers, members of the disabled community, and orphanages in every electoral district are anticipated to gain from the county’s current charitable gift program.

The goal of the activity, according to Madam Mamasa Kamara, Project Manager for the Presidential Special Initiatives, is to motivate kids to stay in school, with a focus on girls’ education in particular. According to her, President Boakai is still worried about the difficulties many families have in keeping their kids in school and thinks that giving them necessities like clothes and shoes might increase attendance and retention.

In an effort to guarantee equitable access to the aid, Kamara said, every district in Bong County has been included in the distribution plan. In addition to praising the President for what they called a timely intervention, beneficiaries applauded the move and called for ongoing assistance for the education sector.

The donation coincides with more general national concerns about school access, growing household difficulty, and the need for focused social support initiatives to keep children in classrooms across Liberia.
