Monrovia, Liberia – Cassell Anthony Kouh, a presidential candidate in the Liberia Football Association 2026 election, has expressed that the LFA’s current law does not prevent him from running in any election.
Mr. Kouh stated that Article 58.1 of the LFA constitution (Status) cannot prevent him from contesting in any elections of the institution .
He claimed that despite being found guilty, he was freed after serving his term and being recognized as a Liberian, allowing him to travel around freely and carry on serving his country.
On Monday, June 3, 2024, Mr. Kouh made an appearance as a guest on a local radio station (OK FM) in Monrovia. He acknowledged that the ongoing rumors are a plan by the current LFA administration to stop him from running in the 2026 LFA election.
“There are rumor around that if you have criminal record you cannot participate in the LFA future election, this is a lie. I want the public to understand that is a lie. We are in a country called Liberia and we are governed by the constitution. The lie is a plot by the current administration to bend the constitution to stop somebody who can take Liberian football forward, but I want to state clearly that Article 58.1 of the LFA Statue did not say so.”
Based on their interpretation of Article 58.1 of the Statute, the former Vice President for Operations of the Liberian FA has also questioned the educational background of individuals who are spreading a lie under the guise of a conspiracy backed by the current LFA administration.
Speaking about his intentions to change Liberian football, the CEO of FC Kallon Liberia explained that a blueprint has been put in place to advance the sport.
In his words, every area of the nation will see football growth, starting at the grassroots level and involving both men and women in order to advance the sport.
He claimed that the present FA president is only known for placing blame on government for lack of support to football.
Cassell Anthony Kouh pledged that when elected as president of the Liberian football Association, the senior national team under his watch will qualify for both African Cup of nations and the World Cup.
”We have the perfect blue print in place to attract sponsors. The current LFA President, (Mustapha Raji) admitted on this very OK FM that football needs sponsorship but he lacks the innovation to attract sponsors, and the question is why is he holding our football under house stage when you lack the capacity.”
The 2026 LFA Presidential Candidate has also expressed disapproval of Mustapha Raji for allegedly using his regular statement that the government does not support football to pit the public against the government.”
“How can a club receive 7,000 US dollars as a subvention from you? Even with the substantial funding from FIFA and CAF, the president of the LFA should continue to advocate for further funding to promote football. Mr. Raji is only known for assigning blame to the government.”
“It will only take me two terms to completely change football in Liberia. I will resign from my position as president of Liberian football after my first four years in office if we don’t qualify for the African Cup.”
He has also positioned himself as the sole contender for Liberian football in this dire situation because of his background in the sport, which includes playing for FC Fassell and the recently formed team that he funded entirely on his own while traveling to Turkey, spending $100,000 USD.
