The Solicitor General of Liberia Cllr. Syrennius Cephus on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, failed to properly respond to a specific question asked by the host of the OK Morning Rush regarding the case involving senior police officers Alexander Saye and Sampson Pennue.
While serving as Deputy Police Commander of Grand Gedeh Police detachment, officer Saye was allegedly killed by Sampson Pennue who is believed to be an NSA officer in Grand Gedeh County.
The 7th Judicial Circuit Court in Grand Gedeh freed Sampson Pennue on a bill; a decision which many believe is contrary to article 21(d) of the Liberia Constitution which prevents alleged murderers from being free on the bill.
But the Solicitor General could not respond to a specific question as to whether while there was no representation of state prosecutors in court after the two previous persecutors backed off from the case even though there are qualified Lawyers at the Ministry of Justice. The SG later said that the Ministry of Justice would have fought to make the appropriate representation so required if the state was legally represented in court.
