Smythe Institutes of Management and Technology over the weekend graduated over 355 certified nurse’s making the total of 4,855 professional nurses who have graduated from the institution since its establishment in 2003.

 The professionals are currently practicing at some medical institutions across the country according to the Institution’s acting president Boyd Johnson.

Serving as the keynote speaker for the 18th Commencement convocation, which was held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex Gymnasium in Paynesville City, Rev. Dr. Sodey Lake admonished the graduates to be cognizant of the services they will render and, should make a positive impact on the country developmental agenda. She called on the graduates to avoid unwholesome behaviors that will destroy what others have sacrificially labored for many years to achieve. 

Dr. Sodey cautioned the graduating class to master and apply all best practices prescribed and accepted behavior to clients and apply customer service skills when interacting with their counterparts and patient in their various areas of assignments.

She also cautioned the graduates to be effective communicators as professional nurses during decision making and change the paradox and be responsible partners because people depend on Nurses and Doctors to save a life. She lamented that professional nurses should find solutions and not create problems for clients and be gratified that they have made a difference using their education acquired and stressed to make a difference in society.

For his part, Smythe  Institutes of Management and Technology acting president Boyd Johnson said their vision is to construct a vibrant and unique college that will equip students with the intellectual foundation, challenge, and ship the minds and amicable skills and professional careers that will enable them to execute in a pluralistic technological society.

Mr. Johnson maintained that the institution will continue to transform and contribute to the human resource capacity building for utilization of the country’s  Economy thereby enhancing the national developmental need of Liberia.
