Reports231 have gathered that the Judge of Criminal Court “C”, Ciapha Carey has issued a writ of arrest for National Elections Commission Chairperson Davidetta Brown-Lassana. The writ of arrest from the criminal court comes days after the NEC Chairperson was indicted by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission for alleged corruption, conflict of interest, and money-laundering in the lease of 20 Thermometers for a huge sum of US$182,320.

LACC, in its year-end press briefing, said Madam Brown Lansanah admitted to guilt during its investigation that David Browne, vice president for operations of Tuma Enterprise Inc. is her biological brother.

Announcing the outcome of the investigation in Monrovia on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, LACC’s Chairman, Cllr. Edward Martin said Madam Browne-Lasanah was found to be in violation of Section 1.3.6, of the National Code of Conduct, which speaks against conflict of interest; Part II, Section 2.2 of the LACC Act and section 15.3 of the Money laundering Act of 2012.

The LACC’s findings against the NEC Chairperson is the result of a month-long investigation into a Daily Observer report that the electoral body leased twenty facial recognition thermometers at the total cost of US$182,320 from a firm with family links to the NEC chairperson.

But, at a recent news conference, the NEC Boss denied any wrongdoing as alleged by the LACC. According to information, in the corridor of the judiciary, the court has been unable to serve the writ of arrest on Madame Browne-Lassnah, as she is yet to be seen by sheriffs.
