Monrovia, Liberia – The Civil Service Agency’s Director General, Josiah Joakai, revealed that the agency has found 619 unverified workers after conducting a thorough employee verification and counting exercise at thirteen (13) government spending institutions across Liberia.

The CSA Director General emphasized the continuous efforts to clean up the civil service payroll system at a press briefing on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism in Monrovia.

He added that the process’s execution is successful and that the Employees Physical Verification and Headcount Process, which was introduced nationwide on July 4, 2024, in Monrovia by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, will endure for around 30 days.

The Chief CSA stated that the unconfirmed names were identified as a component of a national initiative aimed at verifying the existence and employment status of all public officials. He stressed that there were a number of reasons why the people could not be confirmed, such as their nonattendance at their duty stations and their inability to produce the proper identification and supporting paperwork.

WASH Commission,the Monrovia City Cooperation, Ministry of Education Central office, Ministry of health, Liberia Broadcasting System, the Ministry of Information, Liberia Land Authority, VP office, the Liberian Senate, House of Representatives are the first batch of spending entities.

Taking advantage of the occasion, Hon. Joekai informed the public that the CSA will start identifying government employees who have reached retirement age.

He added that personnel who were retired in 2020 will be captured during the exercise and that it will start after the headcount procedure in spending entities. He claimed that the government will shake hands with each retiree after they have served the country.
