Monrovia-A pro-democratic organization, the Consortium of Civil Society Organization, has called on the Liberia National Police to invite the Country Director of Conservation International to investigate the alleged assertion that Liberia is not safe. The spokesman of the consortium, John Pangbe said the allegation by Peter Mulbah, that Liberia is not safe is severe and has the propensity to derail the image of the country to the international community and scare away would-be investors from coming to the country.
Addressing a press conference in Monrovia, Mr. Pangbe added that a thorough investigation conducted by the consortium revealed that the Country Director of Conservation International has written Conservation International’s central office for him to be transferred because of his allegation of insecurity and fear for his life in Liberia.
According to the consortium, when the communication to the central office of Conservation International was sent to the Environmental Protect Agency through its Executive Director, Professor Wilson Tarpeh, he replied that Mr. Mulbah’s assertion was unfounded and lacks an iota of truth.
Pangbe added that the failure of Mr. Mulbah to give evidence of the insecurity and threat to his life, he should be made to face the full weight of the law.
When words were sought, Mr. Mulbah replied that the case regarding his safety is currently in court and as such he cannot commit to the call by the consortium.
It can be recorded that a number of people staged a protest at the offices of Conservation International on allegations of bad labor practice which prompted an investigation.
