Determine Girls, the female league champions of Liberia, are anticipated to fly home this weekend after a disappointing showing in the Morocco-hosted 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League. Without scoring a goal, the girls of coach Robert Larteh lost all three of their group games.

They began the group stage with a 4-0 loss to Zambia’s Green Buffaloes on October 30. They then suffered 2-0 losses to Tanzania’s Simba Queens and Morocco’s Asfar FC on November 2 and 5, respectively, in their subsequent matches, which caused them to finish last in the group. In order to get to the quarterfinal stage of the competition, Determine Girls defeated Senegal’s USPA and Mali’s AS Mende in the preliminary round of the WAFU Zone-A competition held in Monrovia.

They broke the record set by LPRC Oilers FC by becoming the first Liberian football team to go to the quarterfinal stage of a CAF Competition since 1994. Despite the Liberian Champions’ early elimination from the competition, they are anticipated to return home with USD$100,000 as a participation bonus.

The competition’s champions will get USD$400,000, the runner-up USD$250,000, and the semi-finalists USD$200,000, respectively. The third-placed group winners will also receive USD$150,000, while the fourth-placed club will get a USD$100,000 participation prize.

This makes it the wealthiest women’s club competition in all of Africa.
