Monrovia, Liberia – Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh, the University of Liberia’s departing acting president, has published a thorough financial report detailing 31.9 million US dollars in expenses.

Dr. Conteh stated during a press briefing held by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism in Monrovia on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, that his administration has collaborated with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to guarantee that the remaining budget for UL, out of a $35 million total budget for FY 2024, is implemented in time to cover expenses for the rest of the year.

According to Dr. Conteh, the administration still owes faculty and staff LRD 29 million in arrears, which will be paid soon. The total revenue, including Gol’s subsidy, was approximately $35 million, and the total expenditure was approximately $35 million between January 1 and December 17, 2024, the cutoff point. 

According to Dr. Conteh, Expenditure included $31.9 million in personnel costs, $585 Ousand in materials, supplies, and services, $2.3 million in general and administrative expenses.

mentioning that the Ministry of Public Works has finished a thorough evaluation for university campus renovations and sent the results to the visitor. According to him, the cost of renovating the dings will be US$3,920,863,57, and the cost of building access roads with concrete pavement would be US$9,258,548.78, for a total of US$13,179,412.35. He said that in preparation for the start of classes, they are renovating the campuses.
