Monrovia, Liberia – Emmanuel Gonquoi, the commander in chief of the Economic Freedom Fighter of Liberia (EFFL) has resign from President Boakai assets recovery committee. He claimed that the team members lack the requisite experience.

Gonquoi call on the Liberian leader to form a new team that will include the LACC and other integrity institutions. Gonquoi asserts that President Joseph Boakai’s assets recovery team is severely lacking in leadership.

Along with that, he expressed mistrust for the Liberian leader’s team, claiming this has hindered the group’s ability to successfully reclaim government property.

On March 8, 2024, President Joseph Boakai announced the appointment of 15 individuals to the Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Core Team, subsequent to the issue of Executive Order #126, which established the Office of Assets Recovery.

The team, with Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin serving as Chairman, was tasked with spearheading efforts to guarantee procedures that would locate, reclaim, and retrieve public assets and resources.

However, the EFFL commander in chief has stressed that President Boakai must reassemble the assets recovery committee to include the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission and other integrity organizations.

Emmanuel Gonquoi continued that certain members of the current team lack the requisite experience in asset recovery, emphasizing that reassembling the team with experts in the field will put it on the correct track to accomplishing its goals.
