Monrovia, Liberia – The pistol that was given to Quiwo Pepsi Yeke, the former boss of LACE, has been acknowledged as having been received by the Executive Protection Service. The Executive Protection Service of Liberia (EPS) declared Mr. Yeke wanted for possessing an unlawful firearm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
According to the EPS, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, Mr. Yeke stranded the weapon to the service through Cllr. Archie Benard at the EPS headquarters on Capitol Hill.
The EPS stated that Mr. Yeke’s failure to return the gun despite multiple written communications from the new director was the reason for the action taken against him.
According to the EPS, no president has the authority to give the director of services permission to give a civilian a government service firearm. The EPS further stated that the director is not authorized to provide service weapons to non-EPS agents who are civilians.
The president has the authority to give the director of the service permission to assign a trained and armed agent to a protectee in accordance with the EPS Act.
According to the EPS report, the arrest bulletin has been revoked adding that Mr. Yeke has fully complied.
