Monrovia, Liberia – Four officers of the Executive Protection Service (EPS) have been suspended indefinitely for engaging in unethical behavior, notably collecting money from guests at the President’s mansion. This action was immediate and decisive.
The EPS Administration has learned that certain of its personnel have made it their improper practice to ask people for gratuities at the Executive Mansion Grounds, the President’s house, and during national security procedures.
Since EPS personnel are sworn to enforce the law and follow the greatest standards of professionalism and integrity as VIP bodyguards, such activities constitute a flagrant breach of the values and ethical standards required of them.
The EPS Administration wants to it very clear that it will not put up with any kind of wrongdoing among its employees. If an officer is caught doing such things, they will face disciplinary action, which may include termination.
These actions are required to uphold the public’s faith and confidence as well as the excellent level of service that the EPS is dedicated to provide.
It is crucial to acknowledge the exceptional commitment and professionalism of the vast majority of EPS courageous men and women, who serve with dignity and devotion in carrying out their tasks, even while the wrongdoing of a select few damages the Service’s name.
To uphold the highest ethical standards, the EPS is steadfast in its commitment to doing all it takes to ensure that its employees uphold the confidence that the Liberian government and people have placed in the Service.
