Female Lawyers threatens one year suspension for member who attended Pres. Weah meeting at Jamaica Resort

Monrovia, Liberia – Every member of the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia who attended significant meetings at President Weah’s Jamaica resort will get a one-year suspension, the organization has promised.

According to reports, a small number of members went to President Weah’s resort and met with the CDC campaign chairman Eugene Nagbe to support the president’s reelection without the permission of the institution’s leadership.

The leadership of the Female Lawyers Association did not provide their approval for the association members to attend the meeting with Eugene Nagbe, according to AFELL President Philomena Williams, who spoke to OK FM, a local radio station in Monrovia.

The president of AFEEL stated that while the leadership of the organization does not object to meeting with President Weah, the Liberian President should take into account addressing a number of human rights abuses against women.
