Monrovia, Liberia – As the leader of the government delegation attending the World Bank and International Monetary Fund’s forthcoming annual meetings, which will take place from October 21–26, 2024, Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, has departed Liberia for Washington, DC.

In order to boost partners’ trust and expedite support for Liberia’s development agenda, the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, the delegation which includes the Acting Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia is anticipated to engage in a number of bilateral and multilateral talks.

Among other people, Finance Minister Ngafuan is expected to meet separately with World Bank Vice President Ousman Diagani, the Director of the IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, the IMF Director for the Africa Region, Adebe Selassie, and Amy Holman, the Acting US Assistant Secretary at the State Department’s Economic Bureau.

The World Bank’s African Group 1 Constituency meeting will be chaired by Minister Ngafuan.Twenty-two African World Bank member nations make up the Group 1 Constituency. In order to discuss and expand assistance for the Liberian energy industry, Minister Ngafuan will also be present at the Liberia Energy Deep Drive.

An MFDP press release quotes Minister Ngafuan, “We are going to tell the story of Liberia current economy outlook and get support for future programs he added. Our immediate priorities are to get support from partners and source funding to finance the budget that is aligned with the ARREST Agenda that will immediately impact citizens’ lives.”
