Monrovia, Liberia – A US$25 million master’s degree work-study program for prospective Liberian students was unveiled by Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti in a historic move aimed at empowering the country’s next generation of innovators. Participants in the program will be able to pursue graduate studies in the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), and artificial intelligence (AI) in the United States, thanks to its advanced education and hands-on experience-based curriculum.
During Tuesday’s regular press briefing of the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Foreign Minister Nyanti emphasized the initiative’s revolutionary potential. Foreign Minister Nyanti declared, “This program represents a significant investment in Liberia’s future.” “By giving our young brains advanced knowledge and abilities in STEM and AI, we are creating the groundwork for a strong and creative workforce that will significantly advance the development of our country.”
The Foreign Minister further revealed that the initiative would be formally launched later this week by the Ministry in coordination with important stakeholders. With this launch, the hiring process for the 250 highly qualified Liberian students who will enroll in the program for the January academic term in the US will officially begin.
Minister Nyanti underlined that this program is about economic empowerment in addition to education. “During their time in the United States, participants will have the exceptional chance to work while they study, allowing them to obtain important professional experience and generate income to sustain themselves,” she said.
It is anticipated that this strategy would promote both academic achievement and practical abilities, guaranteeing that participants are ready for obstacles they may face in the real world.
Graduates of the program will be expected to return to Liberia after completing their studies successfully, bringing with them new views and improved abilities that are essential for the nation’s progress. “These graduates’ return will change the game,” said Foreign Minister Nyanti. “They will play a crucial role in promoting innovation and sustainable development in Liberia by leveraging their expertise to strengthen vital sectors like technology, engineering, and education.”
