Monrovia, Liberia – George Weah, the former president of Liberia, has held meeting with some members of the Congress of Democratic Change (CDC) on Tuesday in an attempt to solve the ongoing House of Representatives drama.

Weah’s CDC has been engaged in an internal crisis ever since some of its members, most notably Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah, joined forces with a group of parliamentarians who demanded Speaker Koffa, a senior CDC official, removed.

Legislator Yekeh Kolubah, who represents Montserrado County’s 10th district and is a vocal opponent of Weah, Bong County District #5 Representative Eugene JM Kollie, Gbarpolu County District #1 Representative Zinnah B. Norman, and Montserrado County District #9 Representative Frank Saah Foko were present at the meeting.

A source claimed that Mr. Weah pleaded with angry lawmakers that siding with the “majority bloc” to overthrow Koffa would harm the party in the run-up to 2029, especially since it is now obvious that the ruling Unity Party is allegedly behind the effort to do so.

According to our source, the former president reassured parliamentarians that one of his responsibilities as the party’s head was to foster an atmosphere where members could air their complaints. Mr Weah promised parliamentarians that he would keep using the party apparatus to solve the issues.
