The Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports has hailed the Liberia Athletics Federation. Youth and Sports Minister Zeogar Wilson said the Liberia Athletics Federation has over the years demonstrated its dominance displayed in International competitions.
Minister Wilson acknowledged that he is very much impressed with the performance of the federation recently, something according to him President George Weah is also proud of.
He narrated that team Liberia’s 21 medals won in the just ended Region two Athletics championship in Ghana is a wake-up call for more support to the federation. The Youth and Sports Minister was speaking on Friday, May 27, 2022, when he had an appreciation lunch with the Liberia Athletics team that won 21 medals in Ghana.
According to him, despite the challenges, the government will ensure more support is given to the federation.
“Today, if you look at the World Athletics record, you will understand that Liberia has made tremendous efforts in some events, the MYS Minister said”.
Also speaking, the captain of Liberia Athletics Federation, Telvin Jallah appreciated Minister Zeogar Wilson for making their trip possible. According to him, team Liberia produced a huge number of Athletes in the competition for the first time due to the intervention of the government.
“Minister Wilson, I don’t even know how to appreciate you on this day. As you can see smiles on the faces of my colleagues, it is just a demonstration as to how happy they are because of your support. I can assure you that, we will make positive impacts in the future competitions once the government continues to support the team,” Telvin Jallah mentioned.
Meanwhile, the President of Liberia Athletics Federation, Mulbah Zaza also welcomed the government support to the Liberia Athletics Federation.
