Monrovia, Liberia – In an effort to combat drug and substance misuse, the Liberian government, along with the Ministry of Health, will lay out and evaluate the nation’s rehabilitation facilities on Monday, February 19, 2024.
The effort is in accordance with the President’s directive from his state of the nation address, which declared drugs and substance misuse a national public health emergency. Presidential Press Secretary Kula Fofana made this revelation on Friday, February16, 2024, at an Executive Mansion regular press briefing.
The press secretary informed reporters that the purpose of the evaluation process is to compile data on the entry point, identify the perpetrators, and work with partners to guarantee a comprehensive program.
Madam Fofana asked everyone involved in the battle against drugs and substance misuse to get in contact with the Ministry of Health in order to guarantee a coordinated effort.
“The committee headed by the Ministry of health has continuously met and on Monday, they will start an assessment of all the different areas that is responsible for the issue of rehabilitation.They will mapup all the rehabilitation centers that is in the country.”
“To those of you who have been working in those line providing services for people who have find themselves in ghettos, it will be important to reach out to the Ministry of health to be able to work together.”
Madam Fofana informed the public that the Boakai administration’s 100-day deliverables are on track and should premiere shortly. She reported that the team is developing strategies and plans to guarantee that the deliverables for the 100 days are implemented successfully.
“The hundred days deliverables will be launch upon its completion by the committee that is working on it and that will happen in a soonest possible time.”
The Press Secretary further stated that, in order to make sure that procedures are followed, the Civil Service Agency, the Ministry of State, and the GAC will audit the personnel of the Ministry of State on Monday, February 19, 2024.
