Monrovia, Liberia – The World Bank Mission and the Liberian government wrapped off a week-long conference with the goal of enhancing the public financial management system throughout all government spending bodies. The nation’s public financial management system is being strengthened by the bank, according to a statement made by Finance and Development Planning Minister Boima Kamara at the conclusion of the meeting.
Minister Kamara also praised the bank for its “level of commitment and support” in terms of developing capability and providing additional funding to other areas of the Liberian economy. According to him, recommendations from the mission visit will be addressed and be implemented to the letter. As we all gear up to strengthen the public financial management system across the government. We think that will enhance transparency and efficiency across government.
The minister underlined that in order to improve other financial systems and industries across the country, more participation and support are required. Minster Kamara disclosed that a number of systems will be put into service and that every concern brought up during the bank visit will be fixed.
Georgia Wallen, the World Bank’s country manager for Liberia, expressed her satisfaction with the many interactions the bank has had with the government and other stakeholders in the country.
Additionally, Macdonald Nyazvigo, Senior Financial Management Specialist at the World Bank, stated that their mission visit was a great success and a testament to teamwork and involvement.
He claimed that significant advancements were also achieved with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning’s strong technical support.
“We were really impressed with the progress made when we visited some stakeholders, and we think we can showcase some of the progress made.”
Among those present at the last meeting were Boama Kamara, Minister of Finance and Development Planning; Ms. Georgia Wallen, the World Bank Country Manager; a”nd Macdonald Nyazvigo, Senior Financial Management Specialist.
