The Chairperson of the Liberia Small Arms Commission Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby is warming legislators, Heads of States Security, and paramilitary to desist from issuing licenses to individuals who are arms carriers without the approval of the Commission.
Commission Grigsby’s comment comes following a series of shouting incidents that have been taking place in Liberia by state security officers.
Addressing scores of MICAT reporters on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Ministry of Information, Atty. Grigsby noted that no legislators, Heads of States Security, and paramilitary should issue licenses without the approval of the small arms commission.
The Small Arms Commission boss indicated that under the institution’s new law, the legislators, Heads of Security, and paramilitary are not allowed to issue licenses.
According to him, the institution will not hesitate to profile and published the names of individuals involved in the issuance of firearms licenses.
Meanwhile, the Small Arms Commission is expected to host African arms months. Atty. Teklo Maxwell Grigsby said the event is intended to train and educate security personnel on the usage of firearms.
