The ministry of health has threatened health workers and staffs of losing their jobs if they fail to be fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. Addressing the ministry of information special press conference Wednesday, November 3, 2021, Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Francis Kateh said, authority of MOH have resolve to dismiss any staff and health workers who refuse to be vaccinate.
According to Dr. Kateh every health worker at all clinics and hospital will be ask to show their COVID-19 vaccine certificate on Monday, November 8, 2021, before they are permitted at working facilities of the Health Ministry. Dr. Kateh said the decision is meant to ensure health workers and staffs are fully vaccinated in order to vaccinate the public. Else, show up to work with a covid-19 test card every three days for the safety of all. Reports231 has been informed that many health practitioners are not patronizing the vaccine but instead, asking the general public to go in for the vaccine. Dr. Kateh encouraged everyone to take the vaccine as there will be many people visiting the country during the festive season.
The Deputy Health Minister indicated that as of November 2, 2021, Liberia has not recorded case of COVID-19 adding about 200 medical beds have been brought in the country to ease constraints at some health facilities in the country. The health practitioner encouraged everyone to follow the COVID-19 health protocol as covid is not over. He added that the construction of the Gbapolu hospital is ongoing and taking shape.
