Monrovia, Liberia – Amidst the political exchanges on Capitol Hill, President Joseph Boakai’s budget communication has been approved by the majority group. At Tuesday’s majority bloc meeting, the US$851.8 million draft budget was presented, giving priority to important sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, and education under the ARREST Agenda.
Speaker Koffa has maintained that the bloc’s meeting is unlawful and unconstitutional.
Speaker Koffa, whose leadership has been under constant criticism, said he would resign only if the Anti-Koffa Bloc received 49 votes to do so.
The speaker who is still fighting to retain a full house has again lost two of his members to the majority bloc on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, to the majority group.
The two who joined are, Montserrado County District #17 Representative Bernard Blue Benson and Gbarpolu County District #1 Representative Zinnah Norman, formally joined the bloc, bringing its total membership to 45.
