ESTABLISHES NEW CHAPTER IN BILATERAL COOPEATION

Beijing, China – On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, China and Venezuela strengthened their alliance into an all-weather strategic partnership by deciding to advance their collaborative efforts in the areas of business and trade, education, tourism, science and technology, health, aerospace, and civil aviation.

After their talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Presidents Xi Jinping and Nicolas Maduro Moros jointly announced the strengthening of their nations’ ties and saw the agreements being signed. On the formation of the all-weather strategic relationship, the two nations released a joint statement.

According to CHINADAILY.com.cn, as a result of President Xi’s invitation, Maduro travel to China for a weeklong state visit. It is his seventh trip to China as president of Venezuela, and the journey lasted until Thursday, September 14, 2023. President Maduro also visited Shanghai, Shandong province, Shenzhen, Guangdong province, and others.

Xi praised the improvement of China-Venezuela relations in recent years during their discussions, stating that the two nations are close friends that trust one another and are good partners for shared development.

He informed Maduro that China has always seen its relationship with Venezuela from a long-term and strategic perspective, strongly backing Venezuela’s efforts to protect its national sovereignty, dignity, and socioeconomic stability as well as its attempts to fend off outside meddling.

In order to benefit the two peoples more and contribute to global peace and prosperity, both parties agree to work to advance the strategic cooperation between China and Venezuela.

Maduro received a briefing from Xi on China’s reform and opening-up, including the creation of special economic zones. He stated that reform and opening-up is a critical step in transforming China into what it is now and an important tool for China to catch up with the times in a big way.

“China cherishes the valuable experience gained in this process and will continue to advance reform and opening-up. No force can stop China’s progress and development,” Xi said.

CHINADAILY.com.cn reported that President Xi stated that China is willing to share pertinent experiences to aid in the development of Venezuela, noting that China supports Venezuela in its efforts to construct special economic zones.

President Xi urged both parties to develop practical collaboration in a variety of fields and strengthen cultural and people-to-people contacts as the two nations will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.

According to Xi, China is eager to buy more distinctive, premium Venezuelan goods.
He commended Venezuela for being the first nation in Latin America to join the initiative of the International Lunar Research Station, which was started by China.

According to Xi, both nations should work closely together in multilateral organisations like the United Nations, the Group of 77, and China, as well as strengthen their bonds and cooperation with other developing nations to protect the goals and tenets of the UN Charter and the shared interests of developing nations.

In order to promote overall cooperation between China and the region and to jointly build a community with a shared future, he emphasised that China places great importance on the growth of relations with Latin America. He said the country is willing to work with Venezuela and other Latin American nations to achieve this.

According to President Maduro, China has developed into a great nation committed to international peace, progress, and the welfare of all people. It has also become a key force in the promotion of a new multipolar world.

He said that the historical significance of his state visit to China and the promotion of Venezuela-China relations to an all-weather strategic alliance will usher in a new era for the two countries’ bilateral relations.

According to President Maduro, Venezuela actively backs the Belt and Road Initiative, which was proposed by China, as well as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. He also said that his nation is prepared to work closely with China within multilateral frameworks, like the UN and the BRICS mechanism, to uphold multilateralism and the legitimate interests of developing nations.

China says it welcomes Venezuela’s positive aim and supports efforts to accomplish this goal, while Venezuela reiterates its interest in joining the BRICS in the joint statement.
