Monrovia, Liberia – The National Customs Brokers Association of Liberia’s Independent National Elections Commission has made public the results of the election held over the weekend to elect a new corps of officers.

The commission’s chairman, Emmanuel Doe, announced the results after the votes were counted, naming James Hinneh as the winner, Memo Zogar as the vice president, and Charles Karpeh as the secretary general. Mohamed Perry was named Treasurer; Amelia Doe was named Assistant Financial Secretary; and Ezekiel Nyenpan was named Financial Secretary.

Speaking shortly after he was declared the winner, the President-elect of the National Customs Brokers Association of Liberia, James Hinneh, said that one of his main objectives for his second term is to bridge the gap between the old and young custom brokers, especially by introducing them to the digital world of customs and linking the organizations to other partners in the sub-region and the rest of the world.

“We gathered here as one group, and we want to first acknowledge the presence of Almighty God for granting us the strength to be counted among the living. These elections are necessary for us to test the uniqueness of our organization’s strength and for us to determine our legitimacy as leaders in keeping with our constitutional provisions.”

He declared that everyone who took part in the election process was a winner and that the triumph belonged to them all. He thanked the body for their participation. He added that elections come and go, but the common interest of brokers lives forever.

The elected president encouraged his colleagues to let the bitterness of the campaign get behind them, even though they didn’t think that there was any. “Let’s pursue our objectives in the spirit of togetherness and mutual respect, my dear colleagues”
