Monrovia, Liberia – Mohammed Kamara, a Liberian international, is giving FC Cluj in the Romanian Super Liga his best effort. On Monday, April 7, 2025, he scored his first goal for the team in a 2-0 victory over Universital.

After seven league games, the Liberia international has already scored seven goals. With the win on Monday, FC Cluj dropped to second position with 33 points, two points behind leaders Steaua Bucuresti, with 35 points.

With Liberia’s senior national team, the Lonestar, Keka, as he is fondly known, has won several caps. Under previous coach Ansu Keita, he was a member of the Liberian team that managed a 2-2 draw in South Africa for the 2023 AFCON qualifications, which were conducted in Ivory Coast. However, they lost the rematch in Monrovia 2-1, ending their chances of qualifying.

Additionally, Lonestar Stand Coach Thomas Kojo invited the attacker to play for Liberia against Tunisia and Sao Tome and Principe at SKD on March 19 and 24 in the Group H qualifications for the CAF 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, the athlete from Romania submitted an excuse for missing both games because of ailments that plagued his early season. Despite losing 1-0 against Tunisia, the pride and pleasure of Liberia earned a 2-1 victory.

However, given the number of points separating them from the league leaders, their prospects of making it to their first World Cup are extremely slim.

With 16 points after six games, Tunisia is still far ahead of Namibia, which is in second place with 12 points, followed by Liberia in third place with 10 points, Equatorial Guinea in fourth place with 7 points, Malawi in fifth place with 6 points, and Sao Tome and Principe at the bottom with zero.

Africa has been assigned nine spots for the growing 48 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada.
